We are currently 500+ employees across 31 different nationalities and counting, and we are looking for BACHELOR OR MASTER STUDENTS to collaborate with the Engineering team in Sønderborg.

How you will make a difference in Better Energy

With support from our Engineering Department, you will have the opportunity to work on one of the projects. This can be in the form of your Bachelor or Master thesis or an in-company project during your semester.

The Engineering organisation is composed of talented and passionate specialists within Mechanical, Electrical, Grid, Innovation, Simulation, and Project engineering. Our top priority is to bring our engineering to the next level, and we see you having an important role in this mission. Most of our engineers are placed in Sønderborg, next to our advanced 2 MW PV test facility centre, one of the biggest in Europe. Power electronics, data communication, tracking systems, battery storage systems and steel constructions are developed, tested and optimised.

Description

Drone data utilisation for renewable construction

The project aims to explore how drone technology, including LiDAR, can be leveraged, particularly for site screening in dense forest areas, boulder scouting, terrain analysis and trench identification. The project seeks to utilise drone data to gain insights into construction cost, environmental constraints and shortening screening time per Ha in multiple landscapes.

Grid forming solutions for renewable energy integration

This project addresses the need for grid-forming capabilities in renewable energy systems to ensure grid stability amidst increasing renewable energy penetration. While there are no set requirements for the up keep of inertia today it may be the case that set requirements will be implemented and we want to be prepared. The project aims to investigate and propose methodologies to implement grid-forming solutions such as the utilisation of energy storage systems.

Battery Recycling Market Analysis and Sustainable Processes Study

This project aims to conduct a study on battery recycling, focusing on assessing the current market landscape and recycling processes. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the recyclability of batteries, including the feasibility of upcycling, and evaluating the sustainability factors associated with various recycling methods. The project seeks to provide insights into the opportunities and challenges in battery recycling, with the goal of fostering a more sustainable approach to battery waste management.

Blockchain Integration in Power Market Trading

This project explores the application of blockchain technology in 15-minute power interval market trading. The project seeks to analyse how real-time transactions, smart contracts, and decentralised ledger systems can enhance transparency and efficiency of trading processes.

Virtual Power Plant for Renewable Energy and Storage Portfolio

This project aims to explore the integration of Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) and their application in portfolios combining renewable energy and energy storage. After identifying key use cases and demonstrating the potential of VPPs, the project’s aim is to provide a comprehensive guide for the implementation of VPPs in such portfolios.

IoT Networks in Renewable Power Plants

This project focuses on evaluating the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in renewable power plants. It should involve identifying use cases, assessing their reliability as well as a guide for implementing IoT networks within the renewable energy infrastructure.
