Associate Professor of Informatics
The Department of People and Technology, Roskilde University, invites applications for a position as associate professor of Informatics from 1st of March, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The tension embodied in the name of the Department, between people and technology, is a key feature of the Department's research. People create technology and technology affects people's everyday life and subjectivity.

In the research group “User driven it innovation” understanding user needs and requirements is key and starts with understanding people in context. The goals of our research are to achieve more successful IT projects and greater benefits of using IT. We focus on how organizations manage, design, implement, and use IT to support users' needs and business strategies. Internationally this research is related to the widely established research community of information systems (IS). Read more about our research at udi.ruc.dk.

Responsibilities and tasks
The associate professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within Informatics. In addition to research and research-based teaching, the position also includes a duty to share knowledge with the rest of society – including participation in public debate. To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties.

An associate professor’s duties may also include performance of research management, educational guidance and supervision of assistant professors as well as academic assessment work.

The successful candidate to the position is expected to;

  • Be able and willing to broadly undertake teaching and tutoring at the under-graduate and graduate levels as well as in the department’s continuing education programs.
  • Have documented research and teaching qualifications at associate professor level.
  • Master Danish (or Swedish/Norwegian) to the degree that you can teach and supervise in Danish and participate in on-going administrative and collegial cooperation. If you do not master Danish, you are expected to follow classes and reach an acceptable level of Danish with a period of two years.
  • Master English to the degree that you can teach and supervise in English.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD degree or equivalent within Informatics. We are interested in a candidate at associate professorship level with a strong academic background in research, teaching and dissemination in at least one but preferably more of the fields of the UDI research group:

• evaluation and effects-driven it development
• software process improvement and project management
• diffusion and adoption of it
• health it
• design science

In particular we are looking for a candidate with a research profile that includes design science with research projects with industry, and diffusion and adoption of it in complex organizational or heterogeneous settings. We are seeking a dynamic, enterprising individual who can work independently as well as collaboratively. We look for candidates who are able to demonstrate strong qualifications with teaching in cross-disciplinary contexts for example like the bachelor program in humanities and technology, the master program in informatics, and the executive master program in project and change management. The applicant must relate own research, qualifications, and future research plans to the research profile of the “User driven it innovation” research group as part of the application.

Assessment

In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to;

  • research topic,
  • scientific production beyond the contribution from the PhD,
  • research potential and the ability to promote and utilize research results,
  • experience in teaching and education program development and management,
  • an all-round academic experience basis, preferably including international academic experience, e.g. from reviewing or editing academic papers and/or from organizing research conferences or seminars,
  • ability to contribute to the development of the department’s internal and external cooperation.
