Roskilde Universitet (RUC)

Ph.d. & forskning

Department of Science and Environment, Roskilde University, invites applications for a position as Associate or Assistant professor of Molecular Biology with focus on Molecular and Cellular Physiology from October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position as assistant professor is limited to 3 years.

Department of Science and Environment is one of four departments at Roskilde University. The Department conducts basic and applied research within medical biology, molecular biology, environmental sciences, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Bachelor and Master programs are offered within these areas.

The Molecular & Medical Biology group conducts research and teaches in basic molecular biology topics often combined with a biomedical or application-oriented angle. The research group applies both eukaryotic and prokaryotic model organisms and uses a variety of molecular biological and biochemical techniques, such as advanced microscopy, expression analysis, genomics techniques, gene editing and protein characterization using culture and analysis of clonal or primary cells. We have state-of-the-art equipment facilities such as fluorescence confocal microscopy, NGS platform, Mass-spectrometry, HPLC, NMR, cell-culturing, GMO2 and Biosafety level 2 laboratories, and acquired a new laboratory building in 2016.

The position is placed in the research group of eukaryotic cell biology, for which research is focused on transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of cellular differentiation and function with relevance for human diseases, such as cancer, metabolic disease and infections.
