PhD of Global Studies

Roskilde Universitet (RUC)

Ph.d. & forskning
Østsjælland

The Department of Social Sciences and Business, Roskilde University, invites applications for a position as PhD of Global Studies from 1 January, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position as PhD is limited to a period of 3 years. The candidate will be based at Roskilde University and will be expected to participate in data collection internationally as well as a research stay at The University of Melbourne, Australia.

The PhD-scholarship is part of a larger ongoing project on the policy dynamics of antimicrobial resistance (2018-2022). The project is funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.

Description of the PhD project
The PhD project should investigate dynamics of global policy making in relation to transboundary slow-onset threats. The specific cases must include climate change (CC) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The PhD-project should compare the global policy trajectories for CC with the current AMR initiatives. Underlying this comparative research design lies the anticipation that we can glean lessons from the global governance of CC to AMR. At the same time the PhD project needs to constitute an independent research contribution by providing unique insights into the dynamics of and the policy responses to these two important transboundary challenges.
