As our project portfolio expands around the world, we are building a deeply motivated, diverse, and skilled workforce driven to make a positive impact on the planet. It is such an exciting time to join us, and if everything we have shared so far and explained in detail below sounds motivating to you, we look forward to receiving your application!

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll be expected to thrive in dynamic environments, apply your industry experience to new sets of challenges, approach complex problems with a structured thought process, communicate your ideas succinctly, and wish to become a leader in the offshore wind industry. Furthermore, you should have a strong capability to build relationships and communicate efficiently across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

This position will report to the US Director of Business Development as part of a US-based team supported by a central organization located in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is a chance to be a part of one of the leading US organizations developing new offshore wind projects in the US.

You will support initiatives including:

  • Project manage the identification and assessment of commercial opportunities for offshore wind energy offtake, and lead the development and preparation of proposals for offshore wind procurements and support bilateral offtake negotiations
  • Identify and assess new market and project opportunities in North America, including acquisition of seabed leases, and support development of market entry strategies and market development.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with potential development, supply chain, port infrastructure, and/or transmission partners and other key stakeholders in the offshore wind industry to position COP and CIP to secure new opportunities for lease areas and projects.
  • Project manage the engagement with key stakeholders, including state and local officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and community leaders, to support offshore business development and offshore wind policy development
  • Coordinate internal workstreams with engineering, technical, outreach, permitting, finance, legal, EPC, and grid teams to support analysis as needed to ensure effective development of proposals and future projects
  • Manage all business case inputs with internal and external subject matter experts to complete project valuations and assessments of commercial opportunities.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze offshore wind competitive market intelligence and communicate periodically to key internal stakeholders

To succeed in this role, you:
We expect that you have an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field and can demonstrate outstanding results from your previous experience. We don’t have a strong preference for your course of study, and are more interested in how you’d apply your analytical reasoning and communication skills to your daily work.

  • Are working for or within renewable energy sector in commercial/business development role, and have an interest in large and complex infrastructure
  • Enjoy quantitative orientation, and have the ability to tell a story with numbers and data.
  • Have demonstrated commercial skills - experience working with business cases and contracts, developing commercial relationships and agreements. Good understanding of project valuation and commercial drivers and risk management
  • Own a structured personality with solid analytical project management and leadership experience
  • Are able to perform commercial analysis independently and present conclusions in a concise manner
  • Good team player with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strategic thinker, with an eye for details
