About the role

As Head of Finance, Marine People, you will be responsible for leading a high-performing team whose mission is to provide insightful financial analysis, drive strong performance management, and shape business decisions in the Marine People and Culture organisation. You will be an integral member of a global team which manages the planning, deployment & development of 12,700 qualified and engaged seafarers on board Maersk vessels.

You will be based at the head office of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group in Copenhagen, Denmark or Singapore

Key responsibilities:

  • Finance partner and trusted advisor to Marine People and Culture leadership on all financial matters, bringing data driven insights and transparency to decision making.
  • Set strategic direction for team and translate into a roadmap of short and long-term goals.
  • Continuously drive cost consciousness in Marine People and Culture function by establishing a strong analytical framework and performance management structure.
  • Use deep dive analysis & insights from external benchmarking to proactively identify opportunities, then partner with business to ensure that targets are delivered.
  • Report monthly performance against rolling forecast with variance analysis.
  • Lead the annual business planning and quarterly rolling forecast process for crew cost, driving process simplification whilst ensuring all key inputs are captured from stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Business Intelligence and Platform teams across Maersk to improve the quality of data available to present an accurate view of cost trends and relationships with operational indicators, and to reduce manual efforts.
  • Support wider Finance organisation by identifying control gaps and process improvement opportunities then collaborate effectively to implement solutions.
  • Drive a high level of engagement with stakeholders by building trusted relationships.
  • Lead and develop one direct report to be a high performing finance talent, ensuring that Finance service delivery model is embedded in roles and responsibilities.

Who we are looking for:

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-impact finance business partnering positions, with a proven track record of driving business results.
  • Candidate will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business Administration combined with 5+ years of relevant experience in business finance roles. Leadership experience is a plus, but not a prerequisite.

  • Be a self-driven and outgoing team player with excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to engage, challenge and influence across functions and disciplines.
  • Be highly analytical and proficient in combining large volumes of financial and operational information to produce business insights.
  • Ability to convey insights extracted from data into recommendations in concise, commonly understood business language for effective decision-making, while keeping the overall strategic impact in perspective.
  • Possess the drive and determination to deliver results and inspire others to continuously improve.
  • Be a clear and concise communicator with high degree of executive presence.
