The Role
As a Director and Team Lead in R&D FP&A, you will play a pivotal role in building out and leading a dynamic team of Finance Business Partners dedicated to supporting our extensive product portfolio in early-stage development. This leadership role is designed for a senior finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and is passionate about making a tangible impact on our mission to transform cancer treatment. You will collaborate closely with the global R&D business, project management team, and senior management to provide real-time financial insights and strategic support across our product portfolio.

In the role as Director, R&D FP&A you will be part of the Global Finance Team and report to the Vice President, Head of R&D FP&A based in Denmark. You will be responsible for leading a team of Finance Business Partners and be part of the leadership team within the R&D FP&A organization ensuring that business insights and analysis along with budgets, forecasts, and reporting is handled consistently and with high quality. Furthermore, you will collaborate with colleagues across the global organization with the overall goal of developing new and innovative medicines for cancer patients.

This role is based in our HQ in Copenhagen, Denmark and is Hybrid, which means you are expected to be on-site 60% of the time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build-out, lead, and mentor a team of Finance Business Partners, fostering an environment of continuous improvement, professional development, and high performance
  • Partner with R&D leaders to provide financial guidance and support for the product portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis, as well as support through project governance
  • Work closely with the R&D business, R&D Leadership Team, Project Management Team and Global FP&A Team to prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, monthly reporting, and ad-hoc analysis/reporting
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of key business drivers of the early-stage R&D projects
  • Be responsible for the financial planning and analysis for development projects in early-stage, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and strategic priorities
  • Implement robust financial models and analytical tools to enhance decision-making processes and project valuations
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and adherence to internal SOX controls within the R&D FP&A function
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support the company’s pivotal initiatives and chip in to long-term financial planning
  • Present financial insights and recommendations to project teams, project governance, and senior management, influencing decision-making and strategic direction
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, financial regulations, and best practices in biotechnology finance to continuously improve team capabilities and company performance

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of finance experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with a strong preference for R&D finance background
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with at least 5 years in a management role, leading successful teams
  • Expertise in financial modeling, analysis, and strategic financial planning
  • Strong eye for business with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and social skills, with the ability to engage and influence collaborators at all levels
  • Consistent track record of driving operational improvements and implementing standard methodologies in financial management
  • Adaptive to change and able to lead multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
