The position
As an Associate Research Scientist in rare endocrine disorders, you will work within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the discovery and development of novel therapies for rare diseases. You will apply state of the art technologies and cutting-edge modalities to support our ambition to find new ways to treat patients with high unmet medical needs. You are expected to apply your skills and experience in experimental research to support several rare disease discovery projects in rare endocrine disorders. This will be done in collaboration with scientist and technicians in the team, as well as with colleagues across the company to develop new therapeutic concepts. In this role, you will proactively identify and resolve experimental issues. You will also identify, implement, and optimize new technologies and workflows in collaboration with senior scientists.

In addition, you will:

  • Develop and utilize in vitro models and experimental assays to support project progression.
  • Design and lead laboratory experiments to test new treatment approaches and achieve project goals.
  • Support research planning for new project proposals and keep scientifically updated in the field.
  • Participate in technological innovation within new modalities.
  • Support patent applications to secure intellectual property rights and ensure that data and results are treated according to Novo Nordisk and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in the role, we expect you to have:

  • A MSc degree in Life Sciences (cell/molecular biology or other relevant discipline).
  • At least 3 years of experience within pharma/biotech and/or academic-driven discovery.
  • Extensive experience in cell laboratory work (cell lines and primary cells) and in laboratory experimental approaches such as fluorescence imaging, qPCR, biochemical assays, immunoblotting, ELISA and molecular biology techniques such as cloning and DNA/RNA analysis techniques.

About the department
Rare Disease Research at Novo Nordisk is an expanding new area with skilled scientists and technicians investigating the function of novel drug candidates to improve the treatment of individuals living with rare diseases. We develop innovative drug candidates through in vitro and in vivo research using cutting edge technologies. An important part of our job is to foster external partnerships and engage with experts across the world. We leverage internal and external platforms to address major unmet needs across a broad spectrum of rare blood and rare endocrine disorders.
